Introducing the deeply potent Cold & Cough Syrup that I've been making a version of for friends and family for years. This brew is SO. POWERFUL. It personally stops my cough dead in its tracks, and I've received tons of amazing feedback from folks saying the same 🙏🏼 Definitely a brew to have in your medicine cabinet this winter.

This potent syrup starts with an extremely concentrated long decoction of various roots, lichens, mushrooms, barks and herbs. They join 2 herbal infused honeys and dual-extracted mushroom & lichen tinctures, making this syrup as medicinal and well balanced as possible while being naturally preserved 🌀

Using various methods of extraction: water, heat, slow infusions, organic non-gmo, GF alcohol and raw honey extractions gets the absolute most constituents and medicinal properties out of each of the plants. Some plants extract best in water, some alcohol, some honey, some need a little heat!

I decided to name this offering "Lungs of the Forest" as it pairs wonderfully with my respiratory elixir "Breath of the Forest" for combatting deep respiratory woes. 

THE BREW 🌲

All of the herbs I chose are known as potent pain relieving & respiratory supporting allies. They are anti-viral and anti-inflammatory herbs that act as expectorants, helping to break up deep lung congestion. They are antispasmodic in nature, helping soothe a cough and coat a sore throat. These allies help deliver essential nutrients and vitamins necessary for lung mending while helping put the mind and body at ease.

I'm proud to say this syrup is also yummy! It is astringent with potent medicinal flavor, but I made sure to make it as easy to digest as possible.

The formula starts out with a strong decoction of Arctic Sweet Coltsfoot I harvested in the coastal rainforest, which is wonderful for congestion, along with Sassafras Root, Sarsaparilla Root and Wild Cherry Bark - all well known for their deep lung mending properties. Sassafras (what Root Beer is originally made from) gives this brew a root beer flavor undertone you might be able to pinpoint! Joining this syrup is wildcrafted and dual-extracted Usnea, Reishi and Lungwort Lichen - more rainforest herbs known for being immunomodulating, anti-inflammatory and supporting the immune system.

Birch Bark joins this brew as it has been used since ancient times as a cold remedy for its anti-inflammatory properties as well as it’s aid in reducing fevers. Ceylon Cinnamon extract marries allspice and Smoked black peppercorn, giving this offering flavor and a bit of a warm kick to help knock out whatever ails you. 

The honey portion of this cough syrup is thanks to slow infused Horehound and Anise Hyssop honey over many months. These minty herbs are long revered as some of the most potent respiratory herbs around. They help relieve chest pain while soothing a sore throat and excessive coughing. Did I mention Sumac also joins this brew?? Delicious and otherworldly Staghorn Sumac grows wild in my area, and the sweet berries not only taste yummy (often made into lemonade) but their rich antioxidants are used medicinally for helping fight colds, ease muscle pain and tame coughs. Use to help combat active symptoms or as a preventative. Recommended dosage on the bottle.
