Cardamom, Rose, Vanilla, Black Tea
A gourmand floral scent softened with black tea and vanilla. Don't let the name fool you.
The original No. 69 was created by the vapors of my favorite loose leaf tea, produced by Portland based Tea Chai Te' (now called Portal Teas). I experienced Vanilla Rose Chai No. 69 for the first time while sitting in an overstuffed chair upholstered with chartreuse velour. I was in the tea house's red caboose in Sellwood, a small Southeast Portland neighborhood on the verge of exploding. Rain was dumping on the city and all I could think about was getting a mug of something spicy to warm me up and dry me out.
No. 69 did the trick and then some. Its aromatic vapor was beautifully smooth, and it greeted my nose softly with an unpretentious elegance. Something about it was familiar, like a beloved friend or sweet cousin you don't see often enough. I loved my cup so much that I purchased the 2.5-ounce tin for myself (for "perfume research"), and a second one as a birthday gift for a friend.
No. 69 is is a must-try for any cardamom (or rose... or vanilla...) enthusiast.
